We are about to leave St Gallen, Switzerland for Amsterdam. Taking the night train from Zurich and should arrive 8:10AM on Saturday. It has been a busy few days for Rick so I was lucky to have my friend Linda show me around. St Gallen is a small university town, not a lot to see, but it does have a beautiful cathedral and a very old library. On Thursday went went to the small village of Appenzell, famous for its smelly cheese. This area of Switzerland is not as geared tour non Swiss/German tourist. You see very little non German translation, which really has become the norm in most places we travel. Figuring out the menus has been challenging since German words are not as easy to figure out and then throw in Swiss German and you really have a challenge.
Switzerland is very very expensive, 11 CHF for a ice cream sundae is over 12USD. Not something I will be having every day for sure. But it has been a great time, meeting up with friends and having a traditional fondue dinner last night.
